Overall the game is very good and has a huge amount of quality of life things that you don't find in other MMOs so it is enjoyable to play. The sub reddit is very active, but you'll mostly see veterans of the game complaining about random things =P. The majority of players will now be on the HoT (Heart of Thorns expansion) maps or the PoF maps for events but you'll still see people around on the core maps (just don't expect them to come running to do some event with you like they usually do on the HoT or PoF maps). instead replacing it with grindy mechanics and gimmicks to sink players time into rather shallow content.
Besides this the MMORPG has become more social with the release of this expansion.
A cynical reviewer could see it for nothing more than a huge time-sink. Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns offers plenty of content to make both PvP as well as PvE oriented players happy.
